Call for Papers
The Queensland Catholic Education Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Conference Organising Committee invites you to submit a proposal to present a Paper or Workshop at the Conference being hosted in Cairns in 2013.
The conference theme: “Heart, Mind and Spirit – Continuing our Journey”, will build on the successes and achievements of previous conferences held across Dioceses over many years. Reflected in our conference logo, is the continuation of our journey and sharing across all five dioceses. Central to this is the cross that brings us together in heart, mind and spirit.
The conference aims to provide an opportunity for all people working to close the gap in educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Action Plan 2010 – 2014 will be used as the basis for development in the six identified priority areas:
· Readiness for School
· Engagement and Connections
· Attendance
· Literacy and Numeracy
· Leadership, Quality Teaching and Workforce Development
· Pathways to Real Post-School options
It is also an opportunity for delegates to celebrate achievements, and explore current strategies being implemented, and to strengthen existing networks and share their knowledge of current programs and practices.
Preference will be given to Papers and Workshops which focus on the six priority areas outlined above, as well as reflect the overall theme. Presentation of Papers and Workshops are sought on a variety of topics relevant to the education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners of all ages.
